The DOS version of the OpenWatcom debugger (BINW\WD.EXE) behaves strangely when using FreeCOM on Win98. There are no problems with WD when using Win98's COMMAND.COM on Win98, nor are there problems when using FreeCOM on FreeDOS rather than Win98.

The problem I'm experiencing is that WD will step *into* (F8) function calls when I hit F10 to trace while stepping *over* calls.

Since I can reproduce this problem, I could send my project (a real-mode DOS graphics app written in C using VGA mode 13h) to any (Open)Watcom users so that they can test whether it happens on their machine too.

Apart from meaning that I have to use the dysfunctional (compared to FreeCOM) Win98 COMMAND.COM, this is not a major problem since it does have a workaround.

I have not yet posted on the OpenWatcom newsgroup, since I wanted to first see if anyone here had any ideas.

Thanks,
Brolin

P.S. I am using FreeCom version 0.82 pl 3 XMS_Swap on Win98 SE (U.S. English build). My version of WD is from the official OpenWatcom 1.3 binary release. I can supply more configuration and/or hardware details if needed.
