Hi, question already answered... I have been looking for the VESA VM/GTF Generalized Timing Formula and DMT timing lists. While not checking for the latter in detail, I found some nice pages about the former:
http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/docs/HOWTO/XFree86-Video-Timings-HOWTO On how to calculate XFree86 3.3.x Modelines manually http://www.soulwax.net/nvidia/gtf.c An implementation of the formula by Andy Ritger of NVIDIA. You have to keep the copyright information intact if you use it. http://www.vesa.org/public/ The VESA guys themselves offer only the VBE 3.0 information as PDF... but they offer the GTF (and CVT) as Excel spreadsheet files. Who would have guessed that! --- okay, now some remarks to Lucas (by the way, please use plain text and disable HTML in your mail when posting to the list (as suggested by the list reminder)...): * My AWE32 works just as well in FreeDOS as it did in MS DOS. However, the TSR driver for MIDI->EMU8000 has issues with our EMM386 and maybe others. If using DOS=LOW or DOS=NOUMB helps, you may have some bug somewhere. Maybe EBDA related? Second, I never had QBASIC problems in FreeDOS. QuickBASIC is the bigger brother? Never tried it. I converted all old binary BAS files to ASCII with GWBASIC before trashing the GWBASIC binary, however. * raw protected mode without VCPI/anything is no fun. You cannot use BIOS or DOS from there. Much easier to use a DOS extender like the DJGPP one. Yes, GPL requires no registering. See http://www.gnu.org/ - however, you should tell the user where to get the GPL or even better include the license text in the ZIP with your software. You can spread binaries without sources even for GPL licensed software, but you must give every user of the binary an easy way to get the sources of your program. (etc.) * DJGPP-VBE at http://www.volny.cz/rayer/programm/programe.htm ? Will check it. (Shame on me, two topics in one mail are not recommended! However, I could have also mailed you off-list about AWE64 and VCPI instead ;-)) Eric. ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now.
