I would just like to thank everyone who gave advice on Friday about FreeBSD on the desktop.
I started my installs of 5.3RC1 last night and today have a very nice so far very stable working workstation.
All machines running 5.3RC1 and cvsup'd of this morning at 9pm GMT ports and base.
XFCE4 GUI Firefox,Thunderbird,xmms, irssi and various other bits.
I'll document the install at some stage for newcomers.
