What's wrong with running OSX/Darwin?
You wouldn't run DOS on a SGI Ony4 would you?

1) There is no FreeBSD port for the PPC. (Or rather, there is, not usable as far as I know.) If you insist on running pure-strain UNIX try NetBSD. 2) Many programs which run on FreeBSD have a version for OS X.
