Woohoo! Thanks for this thread, I spent the last 20 minutes freaking out wondering why apache2 died last night. Didn't even think about the whole log rotation bit.

Damn, I was hoping I was wrong. Apparently the fix is in cvs and
hopefully we can get this port updated.
