It has excellent and programmabe keyboard support. Its configuration can be done on file level, even though it's not _that_ easy. It has lots of useful features and runs very fast and stable. It does _not_ come with crap built in. Alternatives worth mentioning are IceWM and XFCE 3 (_not_ the new Xfce, the "old" one that mimics CDE). Those may be good if you like the "classic" way. Also fvwm2 is highly configurable and has good keyboard support. It's especially efficient on screens of smaller sizes. All of them are predictable, unlike many "modern" concepts...
