There were a whole slew of PRs submitted very recently dealing with a
GHC update. I grabbed them all so that I can keep track of them. My plan
is to combine them all into one big patch to circulate to the haskell@
folks and work with them to address any issues in them and get them into
the tree.

I can't say it will get in before the freeze but I will do my best.
