Dear Sirs: Using FreeBSD 4.9R-p3, I cannot use the VIA 8237 ATA133 IDE ports:

Is there a way I can just upgrade the ata driver, without going all the way to 8.10? I really cannot continue with using WDMA2 on 16 MB/s. I am not sure whether it is at all possible to upgrade the ata(4) driver in this fashion. If it is a matter of recompiling the kernel, I can do that. I am sorry if this sounds like a stupid question. But I have searched the FreeBSD site and Google; but I cannot find anything which deals with upgrading the ata(4) drivers.
