I think we are talking past each other. This is what I've been suggesting since my first message, but suggested was a political problem when going to make the necessary VOP_ADVLOCK interface changes. It's also one of the patches I put up a long time ago, and which have been updated to FreeBSD 4.5 by Andrey.
