Uhm, I've had some success with changing the READ_CD flags in atapi-cd from 0x10 to 0xf8, that will make the driver read the entire block (2352bytes) no matter what format it is. Then burning it is bitch since DAO mode is not in the official sources yet, but with a bit of enginuity it can be done..
