I think manufacturers don't consider this relevant info, they sell features, not the underlying spec. This allows them to chop and change what chip is actually in a device depending on the vagaries of their supply chain. Eg, Rev A, Rev B might be precisely the same packaging but different chips underneath. Suck for non Windows users, I agree.
