I guess that's where the disconnect is, I hear you and others saying
"we plan to do big things" but I see just small things (besides code
donations) happen at [1]. If you or others can show concrete examples
(i.e. code) of those big things that are impossible to do with svn
that might help change your mentors' opinions. And in the meantime,
there's probably lots of small to medium things to do to improve Flex
anyway.

Nobody said svn chaos...there are some serious projects like Hadoop,
httpd, Lucene, Solr for example which have *tons* more activity than
Flex currently has, and they're doing just fine with svn.
