Do you realize that the Apache Flex team has no control, or input, into the creation, or evolution, of the ActionScript language?
We may be able to perform some "magic" using compiler hooks to rewrite our code, but we won't be able to change the underlying language.
Unless you want to talk about writing / adding such compiler hooks; I suggest you take your conversation of ActionScript 4 to the Adobe forums.

Andreas has blog a wishlist for AS4 http://www.doomsday.no/esn/2012/05/actionscript-wishlist/ While I come to think if I have a great idea, why not implement "Functional programming" along with imperative language similar to Scala? In fact, I've been wishing that Adobe could overhaul their AS4 syntax to adopt half of Scala style to produce cleaner code, reduce boilerplate and to become a better programmer, in turn, we can acquire the Scala knowledge easily and leverage enormous power with existing Java libraries.
