Okay, I took a peep into the plugins folder of my Flash Builder 4 install
location. I see that the design view is indeed a plugin
(com.adobe.flexbuilder.designview_4.0.0.272416)

There is a swf and an AIR application descriptor xml. It appears that
Flash Builder embeds this AIR application in its view. And as expected the
plugin's jar file contains the Java code that interfaces between the swf
and Eclipse.

I think we can expect the Java code as well as the AIR application's code
base (if we get it, that is)
