I don't think we can easily send such welcome messages with ASF lists, and anyway I agree that such information belongs at http://incubator.apache.org/flex/ anyway. There's http://www.apache.org/dev/contrib-email-tips.html which is pretty good IMO, and already linked from http://incubator.apache.org/flex/mailing-lists.html -Bertrand
