The resemblance between the various logos doesn't seem striking to me.
There are obvious common elements and/or colors, but the general approach
seems different enough to me. Yet, the design seems somewhat familiar so I
don't know if there are other logos similar to your proposal (considering
that you gave strength to the community factor, there are bound to be a
number of them)

I liked the logo a lot too, but I'd just tone down the Apache word a bit (a
smaller font size, bottom aligned with the Flex lettering) and I'd separate
both words with a space in order to improve legibility (If you used the
same font and capitalization style in both words you could get away with
just a different weight to differentiate them, but as it is it seems like
someone made an error).

On top of the suggestions above I wonder how the logo would turn out with a
couple variations: One with the Apache word rotated so it is written in the
vertical and the other with Apache on top of FLEX.

I hope you don't mind me making these suggestions, but I feel somewhat like
being in the role of the client here (until I submit my own proposal, if
that's ever going to happen, in which case I'd be arguing and suggesting
things to myself!).

Cheers,
Rui
