I've had no trouble in getting satisfactory color with VueScan, and it will of course export the image in the color space of your choice.
VueScan also has it's internal color profiles for some 100+ films - I've not run into any problems where I would need to purchase or create IT8 profiles beyond those provided by Ed. I'd suggest you read the manual, and work with VueScan, as there are many, many settings available to adjust color et.al. on an individual basis channel by channel, RGB - be sure you have selected the "Advanced" option for each tab.
