Paul, I would be more interested in the carriers than anything else, if I were you...since a good carrier might reduce your rippling by quite a bit. Hence, why I suggested the Leaf...as you could remove the film from the slide mount, and it uses standard Beseler 45 film carriers (as well as a very nice custom set of rotating film holders), which would allow you to get about as flat as you could with a glassless carrier...and...glass carriers are available (in 4x5).
