As far as speed goes, most cards are adequate. You'd be best off buying a name brand, rather than generic card when it comes to support. They also provide regular driver updates, which is very important throughout the life of the card. I've also noticed that some video cards, like Matrox and ATI, can often make a monitor look sharper and better focused.
