I can't say for certain, but my gut (and 
my eyes) disagree with you.  Plus, I have 
heard this from others.

It might be that the processing affects 
the color balance in some mannner, which 
I simply attributed to a change in the 
orange mask.

I'd be curious to hear other folks' 
experiences and thoughts on this.
