It's correct as far as I can tell. From the code: { "step", "set frame step", OFFSET(frame_step), AV_OPT_TYPE_INT64, {.i64=1}, 1, UINT16_MAX, FLAGS}, So you can see that UINT16_MAX (=65535) is the maximum value for the step size, as documented.
