'radicle' does the same with git! :)
But it's still much to immature to use it as real alternative to the
well known platforms resp. as main public interface. But it's at least
possible to mirror, merge and sync the state of common github/gitlab
instances and most of their included social metadata with radicle
seeding by help of cron jobs.
I know, that's not the answer for ffmpegs near future, but it would be
at least a more consistent solution as believing in vague promises about
"federation" support in forgejo. It's an old topic, which was already
requested, debated and expected on gitlab user boards more than ten
years ago.
