There is a funny story told by Wang Xiaobo (1952 - 1997), who is a novelist and a programmer, about pay programmer by number of lines: My software was so minimalist; where others wrote ten lines, I used just one. When it came time to submit the work, the professor was astonished: "It's so short! Can it run?" I said, "Why don't you try it?" After trying, he shook my hand and said, "Thank you!" However, when it came to payment, I received less money than others. It turned out that payment was calculated by the line, which really infuriated me. When it came time to submit the second batch of software, I was really fed up. In short, where others wrote one line, I wrote twenty. When it came time to submit the work, the professor didn't even ask if it could run, he just said: "You're causing trouble!" and sent it back for me to shorten it. > >> Veto-holder >> There is one veto holder, they can block decissions that >> would cause harm to FFmpeg. > > That's also anything but democratic and a huge step backward.
