Hi all
I do plan to make releases from
4.4, 4.2, 4.1, 4.0, 3.4, 3.2, 2.8 branches
why ?
they are used by maintained distributions as listed on
https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Downstreams
(hint, please keep this page updated so release work is targeted to
where its
most usefull)
I just updated it. You can skip 4.0 and instead keep 4.3 updated, since
it's used by Debian Stable, released not too long ago.
You can also skip 4.2 after this last point release you're about to make.
I have doubts about 2.8 as well. Ubuntu 16.04 ended support last April,
and for SUSE 14 it's an user contributed package, so not officially
supported by the distro.
why 4.1 again ? because debian security people asked about the newly
accumulating fixes in the branch and the next release and IMHO it
makes sense
thx
