You will like Mandrake, just remember the name of the partitions you want to keep e.g.. /dev/hda5, /dev/hdc8 etc.. And you will leave and not format these. If you keep your Red Hat /home directory for Mandrake, be aware that Mandrake will overwrite some files and there may be residues from Red Hat there that won't be removed. But that /home will then belong to Mandrake and if you want to use it for Red Hat again later there can be a bit of a mess. All this unless you save the data you want and format it then allow Mandrake to write to it. I have tried to use the same /home for several distro's on one machine and it can be the road to madness. It really doesn't work. They can all use the same swap though. I use various partitions besides /home, like /photos, /webpages /linux-info etc., etc..
