James, This makes a lot of sense. As I don't have much attached to my boxes, only a BJC240 printer and a serial modem, that must explain why I'm not running into trouble. I do ocassionally borrow my ex-wife's Canon Powershot G2 digital USB camera, and that hooks up OK through the Konqueror Control Center. I expect you are correct though- if I tried much else I'd start having problems. Robert C.
