More log messages (in case they help):

nmbd/nmbd_browsesync.c:find_domain_master_name_query_fail(359)
find_domain_master_name_query_fail:
Unable to find the Domain Master Browser name WORKGROUP<1b> for the
workgroup WORKGROUP.
Unable to sync browse lists in this workgroup.

Samba is set to be the master browser, but this is setup for share level
access, not as a domain. Hmmmm.
