The LAN browser is based on Samba, so you will need to make sure it
(Samba) is set up properly and running. Note that Samba does not use
standard DNS or /etc/hosts file entries, so even though those may be
setup, Samba may not work if it is not configured.
Samba comes with an entire book of documentation, usually located in
/usr/share/doc/samba.
