I downloaded, built and installed bzflag from cooker. It built OK but I have
run into a snag. My desktop system is not (yet) networked. Its hostname is
and will be stonekeep.ravenhome.net when it becomes networked.

I tried to run bzflag and it produced "hostname lookup failure" and then
complained that it couldn't find/access /dev/dsp. I then tried "artsdsp
bzflag" and it did the same ole same ole...black screen, keyboard useless,
mouse able to move a cursor around. No way to access virtual terminals, no
way to restart X nor soft reboot. Bing! Hard reboot again.

If I try to run the bzflag server first, it complains as well about the
hostname. Now I thought I could call my system whatever I want, especially
if it isn't networked. My laptop is lapdog.ravenhome.net on the net (I own
ravenhome.net).

Am I stuck with localhost.localdomain if I am not networked? Surely I wont
have to run bind on my system?
