That's odd. The 8.2 kernel doesn't recognize that chipset as being capable of doing dma. The cooker kernel does recognize it and enables it. Second, I assume that you have updated the cdrecord/xcdroast/whatever that came with 8.2? If not, those versions tha tshipped with 8.2 have problems that are solved by applying the updates. If you're using Cooker, then I'm curious what's going on because it should be working. I've got one of those and I've burned CD's (but it was an IDE burner so it's not a valid comparison).
