Well this upgrade has really opened my eyes about linux. While I have loved linux since kernel 0.9, it really can't be called a real operating system. All I want to do is burn cd's. Not pirate mp3 cd's, backup cd's for my data. Well since I upgraded from a K6-2 400 to an athlon 1700+ / Kt333 combination I have lost that ability completely. Even at single speed, I get the same problem. Below is the errors from the messages file:

I've tried the cooker kernel...no luck. Every where I've tried has said that my hardware is too new expect it to work properly. If that's the case, fine. But don't go around crowing about linux being a real alternative to windows. My hardware works fine with XP. Sorry for the rant guys but CD burning seems (especially SCSI cd burning) to be a simple thing for an operating system to handle. Darren
