It certainly goes beyond the capacity of a single individual's household
to create a generic RPM which works on all possible configurations of our
modern computer world's rich variety. It goes even beyond the capacity of
a single company.

But the best way to meet the majority's configuration is

- - retrieve your second pc from behind the sofa, install 8.2 with all
the default settings and test the rpm. Then do a fresh installation with
all settings to the bleeding edge and test again. Don't forget to install
all the office and multimedia apps and, of course, both - GNOME and KDE
in the standard 8.2 versions and in the latest versions.

- - make sure this pc has standard hardware as well as more sophisticated
hardware. Best would be a pc with standard hardware as you can buy it for
a handfull of EUROs in the big chain stores. Then build another one or
use the same with more 'classy' hardware, such as SCSI harddisks, raid
controllers and video cards which use proprietary drivers (i.e. nvidia).

- - as alternative you may test your rpm on a plain vanilla pc with
default settings, publish the rpm and give the details of the machine.
Anybody with different hardware and/or settings may add his configuration
and contribute the changes he had to make. That's what I'd do.
