Hi,

I have installed VNC from the Mandrake 8.1 distribution on two different
systems, an AMD 450 and an AMD 700. The AMD 450 is trying to be a
monitorless, keyboardless, mouseless server running Mandrake 8.1 and
vncserver, which I start via my .kde/Autostart.

On the AMD 700, I run vncviewer either under W/me or Mandrake 8.1. After
starting the viewer and logging in, the desktop appears after about 30
seconds.

My problem is the AMD 450 doesn't appear to respond to my mouseclicks. In
the vncviewer, I see the icons flash as if they are clicked, but the
application doesn't start. I have tried killing the vncserver and restarting
it thru telnet, but the same result generally happens. Most curious, the KDE
menu expands when I click on the "start application" icon, and the various
options hilite as I run my mouse over them, but making a selection from the
menu doesn't start an application.

On a third system, an AMD 1200 running W/me, I have had a little success.
Once in a while, I can actually get an application running and can do
something with it. However, even this "working" instance was not generally
useable and I often get the same no-action result.

Does anyone have any idea on what I should try or can someone point me at a
VNC newsgroup/resource?

Roger
