I've never installed a kernel by rpm before. I decided I'd try a mandrake
kernel. But I get all kinds of dependency problems when I try to install
kernel-2.4.13-7mdk.i586.rpm and the kernel-headers-2.4.13-7mck.i586.rpm.
How do you install a new kernel by rpm? I thought of maybe getting the
source but from what I've read on mandrakeuser.org you can't have
different kernel-source and kernel-headers. It also doesn't say anything
other than install them by rpm -i and they should be fine. How can it be
when headers depends on kernel and kernel depends on headers. There must
be a way. rpm --force maybe? But that seems a bit drastic. Can someone help
me on this or it's back to compiling stock 2.4.14 but I'd like to try the
newest mdk kernel.
