I have 8.1, W2k, and WinME on the same machine, but I just use lilo. I installed 8.1 on top of the win2k and winme, and when it came to configure lilo, the only thing i did differently was to make windows the default. I don't think you will have any problem using the standard install, but the Holt's approach is very interesting.
