If at some point it is decided to remove Mandrake the 2k bootloader can be restored to the system by booting into linux and runnig /sbin/lilo -u This uses a saved copy of the bootloader which was on the system at the time Lilo was installed. The most used method is booting with a Win98 boot disk and doing fdisk/ MBR This will remove Lilo/Grub but it does not guarantee the restoration of the 2K bootloader. It will on occasion leave the system unbootable. That will not happen using /sbin/lilo -u Charles
