When setting up your account, you can tell KMail to delete mail on the server 
(i.e. it downloads it to you then deletes it).  In other words, all messages 
would be deleted from the mail server and KMail would have them until you 
deleted them in KMail.  If you already have set up an account in KMail, you 
can turn this setting on by going to the Configure Kmail under Settings menu. 
 Click on Network and your account should be shown at the bottom part of the 
dialog window.  Click on it and click Modify.  There should be a check box 
there that says something like: delete mail from server.  That's it.
