Ack.. As a matter of fact I am
I have two caviar drives, a 307AA (30.7 gig) and 136AA(13.6gig)

Is that a problem? I don't remember seeing anything about not using
them.
Under 7.1 and 7.2 they seemed to work nicely.

Why am I using WD? Well, this machine isn't a "production" machine,
it's
one that I can install, screw up, and re-install at will and the WD
drives were what I had.
do you suggest that I should try a different drive? I can scrounge up a
MAXTOR
or switch to a nice little SEAGATE ultra-wide (I don't have a SCSI card
in now, but will if it will help)

One thing is that I do use reiserFS on every partition.
Sometime back I read a suggestion to leave /boot as ext2, but it didn't
seem to matter.

thanks

chuck

BTW: Mandrake is my favorite dist, so any "carping" on my part should be
considered "in family"
