Hi,
After I could not get MDK 7.2 on my notebook via ftp I installed
TinyLinux from floppy to get a working system and to find out more
about ftp'ing.
I cannot connect to the other machine - either direction.
Here is my setup:
Desktop: MDK 7.2 with ftp and wu-ftp, open to everybody (just for
testing)
FQDN: molch.wolf-b.de
eth0: 192.168.100.3
NIC: module ne2k loaded and working.
I can ping molch and localhost and 192.168.100.3
Notebook: TinyLinux (it's Slackware) with ftp-client
FQDN: lapmolch.wolf-b.de
eth0: 192.168.100.2
NIC: pcmcia module loaded and working.
I can ping lapmolch, localhost and 192.168.100.2
In /var/log/messages:

Sorry for the german expressions. I think everybody can guess the
meanings
Connection is made with a cross-over cable. When I ping molch from
lapmolch (using name or IP) I see the indicator led on the cable and
on the nic at molch blinking. But no connection is made. 100% packet
loss.
Same thing in the other direction.
I'm lost...
