You just give that user a "0" in the password file but you've first got to
start out with a root account and a user account.  This thread involves a
person who figured that setting up these accounts with no password was
possible and a good idea.  

For what its worth, it would seem that Mandrake thinks it's a good idea
too as they give you a nopassword option for root during installation with
7.2.  I'm amazed that anyone giving any thought to how the software would
be used to set up such system.  Must be consistent with the defaults that
set up all sorts of server daemons by default.  If they were Microsoft
we'd be accusing them of wanting to snoop on our systems :-)

For those new to passwords, these are POWERFUL STUFF...you need
them.  This is especially true if you have any thought of your system
being open to the world (eg - network, cable or DSL access).
