I am an estimator with a concrete company. I build new spreadsheets for every bid. A lot of this is repetitious, same basic line item again and again, just the square footage might change. For a better idea of what it looks like:
Furnish and install ~7,010 s.f. of 4" concrete wearing slab for new 2' x 3' Hanover Pavers and for new stone pavers. Concrete to be DC Class E. Concrete to be reinforced with 6 x 6, 6/6 wwf per detail. Where wearing slab meets the building it is to have an 8" thickened edge. $26,920.00 6 x 6,6/6 7010 40 1 75.25 180 17.36 3117.6 conc 7010 0.33 2313.3 85.67777778 90 145 13050 conc 380 0.33 0.83 104.082 3.854888889 4 145 580 1/2" Cork 170 10 17 20 7.42 148.4 1/2" x 8" 380 10 38 38 15.99 607.62 2 mil poly 7010 3930 1.783715013 2 81.68 163.36 labor 7010 1500 4.673333333 5 1850 9250 26916.98 Cut and paste didn't work so well here, but hopefully you get the idea. I like to type a pretty detailed description and then I do all my calculating below for various components, sum it up with some and then round it up to the nearest $10 next to the line item. Once this is done, I e-mail it to the person who prepares the formal copy. I very often use save as and call it pricing, wipe out the calculations and e- mail an rough draft. Now to the question, I want to compile a large list of these in a spread sheet / data base and bring them into the spread sheet I am working on. I know I could cut and paste, but I am looking for a way to use a drop down list and bring the entire assembly in with the calculations. I can handle the calculations but have not figured out how to bring the whole thing in. Would like to use a code system or brief description as cues in the drop down, I can work that out.
