Ayush (and all) I think that it's important for new members (and anyone else requesting assistance) to recognize that WE don't work for Microsoft.
And WE have paying jobs (sometimes) not related to this user group! Many times, (probably most) we use VBA 8-12 hours per day and participate in these types of groups for "fun"!!! (sick, I know, but what can I say?) That means that when someone posts a question, they're attempting to catch the attention of someone else on the list and provide an interesting diversion. For myself... the question must meet some basic criteria. It must be within (or just beyond) my set of skills. And I must understand the question. If the post simply says "Please help, see attached". chances are I'll not bother, because usually that means it's going to take hours just to figure out the question... And I figure that if the person asking for my time doesn't want to "waste" his own time to describe the problem, then I don't feel obligated to "waste" my own time... unless I'm really bored.. I feel like these posts are a "partnership". The person posting the question should be willing to devote at LEAST as much time to the issue as the people helping him! What I consider an "enticing" question is one that includes: 1) the source of the data (downloaded from SAP, Web queries, manual input) 2) How the data is formatted (including sample data) 3) The desired end result (using sample data) 4) how the macro is to be "invoked". Do you want to hit a button? run when the file is opened? changed? And, what you've accomplished so far... and also very important... What are your questions? it helps if your questions are numbered, so that people responding know if they've answered all of the questions. Many times, even us "experts" see what we want to see, or what draws our interest, and manage to entirely miss the sub-questions... Keeping this kind of thing in mind during our discussions will help people to understand WHY some questions are delayed. I'm currently maintaining nearly 100,000 lines of VBA code (in multiple applications) and I'm STILL learning new things! keep up the good work!!!
