Thanks Milan, that seems to (mostly) solve the problem. If I select anything other than "Current Folder", then Ctrl-Alt-A is disabled. When I select "Current Folder", then Ctrl-Alt-A works as expected, provided that all the selected messages come from the same original IMAP mailbox. For example it always works if I have only a single message selected. If I try to select several messages from two or more IMAP mailboxes, then again Ctrl-Alt-A is disabled. This solution is good enough for me, but it's still a bit weird!
