In this case the message does not make it into local cache. Courier finds some error when it communicates with Evolution and sends a "placeholder" (don't ask me for more details - I am not familiar with the code!). I feel sure that if it had, it would display correctly just like the local copy in "On My Computer". Not sure what's changed between Courier 0.75 and 1.0 - but one of the features of the Courier 1.0 release was implementing Unicode email...
