Sometimes the bounce is related to the email contents. Such as rejecting an email due to an antivirus/antispam match, or because the From: header points to a domain with a dmarc policy of reject. Yahoo is quite bad regarding this. On the other hand, the bounce notification is sent by the list server itself, and is less likely to generate a content-related error.
