hmm, seems to me as I'm wrong. I'm sorry for my quick thought.

Anyway, you can disable the preview panel in Evolution
(View->Preview->Show message preview (Ctrl+M)) and then select and
delete it from Evolution too.

If it crashes because it remembered the last selected message as this
bad, then run 'evolution --disable-preview', if your version supports
it. I'm not sure since which version it is implemented there exactly.

If you can file a bug against Evolution and attach there such email in
mbox format (stripped private info from there), then it would be great.
(Maybe such bug already exists, I do not know, so please look over
bugzilla.gnome.org, under Evolution's bugs.)
