Thanks for seconding my post. Just a note: though Evo depends upon some GNOME libraries (for certain, gnome-vfs, gnome-ui, bonobo), I am 100% sure you don't need the whole of GNOME to run Evo, and you definitely don't need a specific window manager. It's a pure X application.
