I have been using Evolution for a pretty long time as an Outlook replacement. I like Evolution a lot, but there are some things that really annoy me so I'm wondering if there are any solutions to these. I'm currently using version 2.2.3. (I have 2.0.2 on another machine)
1) I have a POP3 account and an IMAP account setup on 2.2.3. Both accounts have outgoing SMTP servers assigned. When I send mail, it doesn't matter which account I create the account under, the outgoing mail always goes out through whichever account is currently set as "Default". Is there any way to get Evolution to send mail out to through the "correct" SMTP server? Remember how Outlook did it it was determined by the from address you were using. 2) Copy and Paste is probably one of the biggest things that frustrates me. A lot of times I like to use the right click/menu/copy and although that option is available, many times it does not function. I have to use Ctrl-c. Also copy and pasting from Contacts is a pain, or virtually non- existent. Sometimes I'd like to just grub an address from my contacts. Right click is not an option, and Ctrl-c does a whole v-card. 3) A group of contacts is another issue (at least on version 2.0.2). Maybe this has changed on newer versions. I have a group that I occasionally send mail to. When I created the group I selected members, etc, etc. The problem is when one of the members of that group changes. Let's say an email address changes. I would expect that if I change that persons contact record that the next time I use the group it would reflect that. That is not the case. The group still contains the old information. I haven't tested it yet, but I wonder if I delete a contact, does the group get updated? I'm thinking no. Does this functionality bother anyone else? 4) I would really like to be able to view my Monthly calendar from Sunday - Saturday, without Saturday and Sunday in the same box. I don't see a way of doing this. Is it possible? 5) LDAP - I've tried using LDAP for an address box, but I think I'm hitting some kind of upper limit, maybe 1000 contacts? I've tried using my company's address book which has around 2500 entries, but there's alway people that are not found. I think it's because of a limit. Is there any way to remove that limit or set it higher? I've tried setting it higher in the Preferences, but it seems to ignore it. I'm not really intending this to be a gripe email about Evolution. I really like using Evolution and I love not being on Windows. These are just things that are frustrating to me and I'm hoping there are ways to handle them. Hope this is the right list. If not, please point me elsewhere. Thanks in advance for suggestions.
