Hi Irene, *Does anyone know how the Alternative Chronology Captions is supposed to work?*
The alternative enumeration works like the regular enumeration option. It's just meant to help record any instances of serials that require fascicles or any other numbering schemes in addition to a regular scheme of enumeration (example: *NGS Magazine *January - March 2022; Volume 48, Number 1). The Serials module was built rather rigidly based on the LOC 853-855 - Captions and Pattern-General Information <https://www.loc.gov/marc/holdings/hd853855.html> In the Enumeration Labels tab (corresponding to the LOC Enumeration caption), the regular enumeration allows for up to 6 levels of enumeration, while the Alternative allows for up to 2 levels. In the Chronology Display tab (corresponding to the LOC Chronology caption), the regular chronology allows for up to 4 levels of chronology, while the alternative chronology allows for 1 level. The Evergreen pattern wizard is mirroring the LOC standards. *I will say that I also miss the capability of simply pasting in a raw pattern code.* I agree with you. Sharing pattern codes and directly entering JSON was an advantage in the Serials module. I thought that I already created a bug for it, but I'm not seeing one. Does this help?
