At CW MARS we have been discussing online card registrations for some time.

The state of Massachusetts has strict privacy laws around personally
identifiable information and what organizations must do if they are storing
any kind of ID type information, even temporarily.

The increased security requirements coupled with the liability on the
network/library should there be a data breach is something we do not want
to assume.

We are exploring Patron Point (are any Evergreen sites using this?) to see
if that might be a viable/affordable option and have investigated some
other 3rd party verification options where they would assume the liability,
but solutions are often pricey and we require strong privacy protections.

We haven't quite found a good solution yet, but are very interested in what
other Evergreen sites are considering.
